Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting the Poseidon CO₂ injection test launch ceremony at the beautiful Dunston Hall Estate in Norwich. A fantastic gathering of industry colleagues, partners, and project stakeholders to celebrate the remarkable progress of our first UK CO₂ injection test!
We were honored to hear great speeches from:
Armel Simondin, CEO of Perenco, and Jonathan (“Jo”) White, General Manager Perenco UK, highlighting the strategic importance of this successful injection test.
Louis Hannecart shared promising initial results from our 5,000-tonne CO₂ injection test program, including:
✅ High-quality downhole data enabling in-depth CO₂ flow visualisation
✅ Injectivity performance & multiphase flow stability exceeding model forecasts
✅ Commercial-scale injection rates of 1 Mtpa under stable conditions
These initial results mark a huge step forward for the Poseidon Project and demonstrate the potential for wider CO₂ storage across depleted reservoirs in the North Sea basin—helping drive large-scale carbon storage solutions!
A big thank you to Matt Taylor, Deputy Director of CCUS Policy at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, and Hedvig Ljungerud, Director of Strategy at the North Sea Transition Authority, for their strong messages of support for the project.
A huge shout-out to our Joint Venture Partners:
Perenco CCS (Carbon Storage) & Harbour Energy
Our lead contractors:
Air Liquide , Petrodec, SLB
And our engaged supply chain partners:
Baker Hughes, Halliburton, Weatherford, Silixa, Sercel, SpotLight Earth, Viridien, SEEL, LLC (Solutions for Energy Efficient Logistics), and VSPROWESS LTD.
A true collaborative effort—and an exciting step forward for the future of CCUS and energy transition in the UK! 🌱⚡
Stay tuned for further updates as we progress this ground breaking operation.
